The championships draw has been done and games will begin Thursday next week. Check the draw to see who is in your team ''Forty Eight players had a great morning and it was good to see that a few of our members are getting good health and are back on the greens.
We are looking forward to the renewed interest of other bowlers now that the weather is cooling down , but last Thursday the team that won Mr Magoo, Kidley and president Percy was running ''hot!'' Runner-up were Col Ebrills, Ted Wilson and Warren Barnes. Charlie Marendez won the pie and Bob Ginavan the $20.00 Christmas club Raffle winners were L. Faulstone (goodluck in the dragon boat racing in New Zealand) Jock McPherson (good luck for the coming operation in Sydney and Fred Cliffe.
Looks like the championships will be the best contested for years , and nominations dont close until after bowls on Thursday. Make sure your name is on the list for a great season of fun and bowls . Winners were Gerald Shashoua Pat Guthrie and Al Beattie. Runners-Up were Percy Fry, Trevor Rose and Phil Gibbs . Les Faulstone collected $20.00 again; Bindi the Bakehouse Bakery apple pie and George Bultin will be in the ''pink'' with the money from J and A fashions. Phil Gibbs crept back into winning circles for the Christmas Club $25.00 draws, along with Gerry Ludford and Peter Loveday.
12 JanuaryNo form guide could pick this January's weather. The hottest day in years was followed by temperatures in the mid 20's and very light showers that kept bowlers cool. Members decided not to play this Thursday , on Australia day Jerry started taking names for this years championship and the names nominated already suggest the competition will be strongly contested. Make sure you get your name on the list and don't worry if your going to be away on holidays for a month or so during the year. Jerry will work around it. The winners were Ron Cutler, Garry Ashley, and Don Appelby. Runners-up were Steve Hall, Bob Constable, and Gerry Ludford, Col Jerret collected the $25 George Butlin the apple pie and Neil Collins the AJ Fashions voucher . Allan Beattie, Steve Hall and Wayne Delaney each got $25 from the Christmas club draw.05 January 2017At our first day back at bowls for 2017 we had a good roll up. The sky finally cleared which resulted in a fine sunny morning for a game of friendly social bowls. We had one visitor Charlie Ebrill who has applied for member ship to the best little lawn bowling club on the coast . The Winning rink team members were Steven Hall, Bob Nixon and Warren Bates. The runners up were Leslie Faulstone, Ingo Model and Allan Beattie. The winner of the nomination sheet draw was Ossie Garland with Peter Loveday winning the great family pie from the Taste Bakery in Laurieton. The christmas club weekly winners were Phillip Creer, Steven Hall and Gary (One R) Weir. That is all.
